CIVIL WAR SWORD - A MODEL 1850 NON-REGULATION FOOT OFFICERS SWORD. 32.5" single edged bright blade with false edge and 3/4 length fuller, with etched scrollwork, shield breasted eagle, U.S. and other patriotic motifs, right ricasso with inset brass medallion with Proved, left marked Horsler Solingen, and marked on top edge Iron Proof; single piece brass quillon/guard/knuckle bow with scrolled quillon, open guard with spread winged shield breasted eagle clutching arrows and olive branch with ribbon banner above with E. Pluribus Unum and U.S. below, and reeded bow with slot for sword knot, cast brass stepped oval pommel with full backstrap with central drop, reeded ray skin grip. Steel scabbard with flaring stepped brass throat top and double brass suspension rings with clip hangers, and brass drag; total length 39”.
