A RUSSIAN SILVER, CHAMPLEVÉ AND EN PLEIN ENAMEL CIGARETTE CASE, KHLEBNIKOV, MOSCOW, 1873. The hinged lid set with a rectangular cartouche displaying a painted enameled woman in a rose garden surrounded with a border of geometric style embroidered pattern. The verso profusely decorated in champlevé enamel of scrolling strapwork and embroidered geometric patterns on a stippled ground with central medallion cartouche engraved with the Cyrillic initials A.I. The interior brightly gilded, hallmarked Moscow, dated 1873, Cyrillic maker's mark Khlebnikov with Imperial Warrant and 91 silver standard. Length 4.25 inches (11 cm).
