A SCARCE COPY OF EMPRESS ALEXANDRA FEODOROVNA’S BOOK, “FROM MY ALBUM”, 1915.  Russian text, the book was published and sold so as to raise funds for Russian soldiers who had been wounded in battle during the first year of World War I. The book is designed to simulate a personal photo album of the Tsarina and contains 60 reproduction family photographs, the majority taken by the Empress, circa 1912-1915. Like a real photo album, the photo gravures are mounted on card stock. They are also accompanied with corresponding printed text identifying each photo which includes images of the Tsar and Tsarina and all their children in various setting and locations. The front cover is emblazoned with the Imperial Double Headed Eagle set with the cypher of the Empress. The interior fly sheet displays a facsimile hand written inscription reading “From my album” and signed Aleksandra. The frontis with full title, “From My Album, Sixty photographs of Her Imperial Majesty Empress Alexandra Feodorovna.” Published by M.O. Wolf, Petrograd and Moscow, 1915, and printed by R. Golike and A. Vilborg, Petrograd. 10 inches x 8 inches (25.5 x 20.4 cm).
