TWO PAIRS OF COLOR ENGRAVINGS OF BIRDS, JACQUES BARRABAND (FRENCH 1767-1809).  The first two, “A Sifilet” (Number 7) and “A Promefil” (Number 8), After Barraband, second part of the 20th century and being color engravings on Arches watermarked paper, plate size 20.5 inches x 14 inches (52.1 x 35.6 cm), full sheet 26 inches x 19.6 inches (66 x 50 cm) with deckled edges and in very good condition. Both contained in matching glazed frames with European style matts. The second pair, “A Rosella Parakeet” (Plate 28) and “A Blue-Fronted Amazon Parrot” (Plate 87) being earlier (first quarter of the 19th century) color engravings on rag paper, plate size 13 inches x 10 inches (33 x 25.4 cm), both full sheets 20.3 inches x 13 inches (51.5 x 33 cm), the second with “& Laurent” watermark, both with scattered spotting and staining, no tears, repairs or restoration. Even overall toning. Also contained in matching glazed frames.
