A RARE CHESAPEAKE POTTERY COMPANY "MERCHANT OF VENICE" HANDLED URN, 1891-1892. With a transfer decorated scene of "Portia" on obverse and "Shylock" on reverse within embossed medallions below grotesque animal form handles in the "Alsatian" pattern. Lid apparently absent. Unmarked. Height 15 inches (38 cm). (Unillustrated)
