AN IMPRESSIVE PAIR OF SILVER AND IVORY JOUSTING KNIGHTS, PROBABLY GERMAN, 19TH CENTURY. Each finely modeled, cast and repousséd with detailed tool work in the form of two opposing knights in full armor on horseback with extended lances. Carved ivory features revealed behind articulating face plates, with each horse rearing on a sculpted silver ground with extending fern leaves, figural lizards, and frogs above a reticulated foliate plinth. Remnants of gilt throughout. Apparently unmarked. Lot is accompanied with later table lamp fixtures with shaped wooded plinths in which the pieces may be displayed on. Height 13.5 inches (34.3 cm), total weight 106 troy oz.
