A LARGE AMERICAN SILVER "MARINE " WATER PITCHER, EOFF & SHEPARD FOR BALL, BLACK & CO, CIRCA 1855. Of baluster form, chased with a mask of Neptune flanked with applied shells, coral and anchors with suspended silver chains above a rope-twist bordered cartouche engraved with a presentation: "Robert S. Day from James I. Day", and raised on a spreading bell shaped pedestal mounted with dolphin heads and shells, the double scrolled handle surmounted by a sailor and terminating with a capstan and dolphin. Marked on base "Ball, Black & Co. E & S New York". Total weight 64 troy ounces. Height 19.25 inches (49 cm).
