A VERY FINE SWISS GOLD AND ENAMEL SNUFF BOX FOR THE EXPORT MARKET, CIRCA 1830. Of oval form, the base finely en plein painted against a guilloche enameled sky with a scene of boats on a lake near a rocky torrent, with lakeside village, battlements and shot tower within an undulating chased and enameled border. The sides with four oval vignettes each painted with a scene of voyaging ships within a guilloche sunset against a gold scrolled pink ground beneath a border of flowers. The hinged lid pave-set with cabochon turquoises in radiating graduating sizes set in silver-gilt mounts. The interior with Geneva town mark and rubbed maker's mark and scratched inventory number. Length 3.2 inches (8.1 cm).
