A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE CARVED AND POLYCHROME FIGURE OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION, SPANISH 19TH CENTURY. The feet, hands and head realistically carved, the head set with glass eyes and earrings, dressed in an ornately embroidered silk gown with bullion fringe and the front embroidered with the interlocking abbreviation AM beneath a crown, the blue silk robe profusely decorated with silver embroidered fringe, and the head set with a lace mantilla. Resting on a carved and polychrome wooden base in the model of a globe surrounded by clouds, and beneath her feet a serpent. Overall height 38.5 inches (97.5 cm).
