A VERY FINE RUSSIAN ICON OF THE WARRIOR SAINT DMITRY, MOSCOW, CIRCA 1900. Here depicted waist up within an arched reserve against a gradiated background decorated with gilt clouds. Finely painted in the Pan Slavic style, the halo, robe and hair extensively decorated with chrysography, the undergarments ornately painted in faux embroidery and embellished with gemstones. Possibly the workshop of Vasiliy Pavlovich Guryanov. 12.25 inches x 10.25 inches (31 x 26 cm).
