A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE CARVED MARBLE FIGURE OF A BEAUTIFUL YOUNG EGYPTIAN, GIUSEPPE GAMBROGI (ITALIAN 19TH/20TH CENTURY). Finely and realistically carved in full round, of good anatomy, resting against a two tiered ruin style architectural element engraved with ancient style hieroglyphics. Her hair delicately carved and set with an Ibis headpiece, her kalasiris finely engraved and the belt sash with faux engraved embroidered elements; her sandal straps, arm band, bracelet, drop earrings and breast covering also ornately decorated. Signed on back of wall G. Gambrogi. Height 37.5 inches (95 cm). Together with a substantial carved and polished marble pedestal stand measuring 39.75 inches in height (101 cm), 27.5 inches in length (70 cm), and 13.5 inches in depth (34 cm).
