A LARGE JAPANESE CARVED GILT WOOD AND LACQUERED ZUSHI (SHRINE), MEIJI PERIOD. The well appointed rectangular cabinet with bronze mounted bi-fold doors, the interior panels of gilt, opening to reveal a bi-fold gilt lattice gate with carved boxwood panels, overlaid with a gilt mesh screen with woven cloud designs, and further opening to reveal a well appointed interior containing a carved gilt wood and bronze mounted portico with a standing figure of Buddha. Height 32.75 inches (83 cm), width 16 inches (40.5 cm), depth 12.75 inches (32.5 cm).
