A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE GILT BRONZE AND CHAMPLEVÉ ENAMEL COVERED TROPHY CUP, CIRCA 1890, PROBABLY GERMAN. Overall decorated in the Renaissance Revival style, resting on a stepped domed base with beaded rim and overhanging leaf-tip border beneath a band of scrolling foliage atop a stippled ground and above a circle of flowers amidst a blue enameled field. The baluster central column with classical urn shaped node in stripped enameling beneath a large bowl, the sides etched with hunting scenes in the Renaissance style against a blue enamel ground and between bands of scrolling foliage. The fitted lid with overhanging leaf-tipped border banded in scrolling foliage and with a ring of birds against a blue enamel field upon which rests an urn style finial with enameled top from which emerges flowers. The rim of base set with multicolored enameled elements interspersed with cut steel stones. Apparently unmarked. Height 19.8 inches (50.5 cm).
