A PAIR OF LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE GILT DECORATED GLASS PORTRAIT VASES, JOSEF AHNE (BOHEMIAM 1830-1909). Of baluster form in white opal glass, each finely painted in grisaille with the portraits of Beethoven and Mozart after Carl Jäger (1833-1887) within elaborate two-tone floral gilt cartouches bordered with white enameled jewels and with scrolled ribbon title plaques for "Beethoven" and "Mozart." Raised on mint green washed pedestals with two-tone gilt scrolled foliates. Each signed "Ahne" lower right obverse, the versos with matching foliate cartouches in two-tone gilt with tooled signature plaques inscribed "J. Ahne." Height 20.75 inches (52.7 cm).
