A RUSSIAN SILVER-GILT AND ENAMEL COMPACT, 8TH ARTEL, ST. PETERSBURG, 1908-1917. Of rectangular form and overall in translucent mint green enamel over a wavy guilloche ground. The hinged lid set with a large and impressive diamond studded Imperial Double Headed Eagle and the crescent shaped thumbpiece also set with diamonds. The interior gilded and underside of lid set with a mirror. Hallmarked St. Petersburg 1908-1917, mark of the 8th Artel (8A), and 88 standard. Length 3.25 inches (8.3 cm).
