While others have suggested attributions to Alessandro Allori (1535-1607) Scipione Pulzone (Italian 1550-1598) and Santi di Tito (1536-1603), the vibrant embroidered fleur-de-lis pattern may  suggest a French connection such as that of Frans Pourbus the younger who, In 1609, was sent to Paris by the Duke of Mantua to paint for Henry IV of France and Queen Maria de Medici.
