A VERY FINE FRENCH LOUIS XVI HAND PAINTED AND CARVED MOTHER OF PEARL SILK FOLDING FAN, CIRCA 1900. The hand carved mother of pearl sticks with very fine reticulated and tooled decoration heightened in silvering and gilt, supporting a silk pleated semi-circular fan with three hand painted romantic pastoral scenes set in reserves within foliate and beaded swag borders. Artist signed lower right M. Porchet and contained in a later gilt and glazed shadowbox frame. Length 26.25 inches x 15 inches (66.5 x 38 cm).
