A GREEK ICON OF THE DEISIS, 17TH CENTURY.  Depicted at center within an ogee arch recessed reserve is the enthroned Christ flanked by the Virgin Mary on his right and St. John the Forerunner on his left, no doubt once forming the central section of a personal traveling triptych. The upper edge on verso displays a finely carved reliquary compartment, now empty. 5.4 inches x 4 inches (13.5 x 10.2 cm).
