A LARGE AND IMPOSING CARVED POLYCHROME AND GILT WOOD FIGURAL RELIQUARY OF A DOMINICAN SAINT, ITALIAN, 18TH CENTURY. Depicted waist-up with hands held in prayer, looking heavanward and wearing a Dominican habit. Carved in full round of good proportions and anatomy. Deep folds, finely carved tonsure and the chest faced with a heart-shaped glazed exposition window with gilt border and resting on a octagonal stepped polychrome base. Retains the vast majority of original polychroming and gilding, very minor losses. Height 28 inches (71 cm).
