A GOOD CONTINENTAL CARVED IVORY PLAQUE "MADONNA OF THE GOLDFINCH", EARLY 19TH CENTURY. After Raphael (Italian 1483-1520). Of oval form carved in good relief. Depicting the seated Madonna with the Christ child and John the Baptist offering Christ a goldfinch. Contained in the original frame with tooled gilt bronze bezel and mohair surround. Size of ivory 5.125 inches x 4 inches (13 x 10 cm), overall 9 inches x 8 inches (23 x 20 cm).
