A FRENCH CARVED IVORY DIPTYCH SPHERE, 17TH/18TH CENTURY. Depicting the beheading of St. Dennis in relief on left interior and the seated Emperor Valerian on the right. The exterior carved with the bust of Valerian on obverse and fleur-di-lis on reverse. Possibly carved by a prisoner of war. Diameter 2.125 inches (5.3 cm), length 4.5 inches (11.4 cm).
