A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE RUSSIAN SILVER HOT WATER KETTLE, SAZIKOV, MOSCOW 1847.  The ornate Renaissance Revival-style kettle with large bulbous body and ribbed sides, resting on an elaborate raised base of scallop form feet and decorative pierced strapwork with covered burner below and incorporated hinged tilting device with locking key. Centered at mid height on opposing sides, two large raised sculpted figural busts of a well-dressed Renaissance man and women within a scrolled shield form. The rim mounted with a substantial swivel handle set with ivory inserts and the removable lid with melon finial, the interior brightly gilded. Hallmarked Moscow, dated 1847, maker’s mark of Sazikov in Cyrillic beneath the Imperial Warrant and with 84 silver standard. Height 16.2 inches (41.2 cm), Total weight 96.15 troy ounces.
