A PAIR OF RUSSIAN SILVER-GILT AND NIELLO SNUFF BOXES, PROBABLY 18TH CENTURY. Comprising a circular engraved and niello snuff box, the fitted lid engraved with the Bronze Horseman- Peter the Great, and the verso with an arms and armor motif. The interior gilded, hallmarked Moscow, circa 1790 and with 84 silver standard. Diameter 2.4 inches (6.2 cm). Together with a niello snuff box, the rectangular form nielloed with city silhouettes on the side, the verso with a cornucopia and pair of regents, and the hinged lid with regents on a deer drawn carriage. The interior brightly gilded, apparently unmarked. Length 3.1 inches (8 cm).
