A GROUP OF INTERESTING RUSSIAN LACQUER HAND PAINTED PLAQUES, PALEKH, 1956.  Comprising two large rectangular plaques, one decorated with cows surrounded with a border of dragons, the other of birds in flight surrounded with birds on a red ground. Together with two horizontal rectangular plaques depicting floral still lifes. Each artist signed and dated 1956. Largest 4.75 inches x 7.75 inches (12 x 20 cm).

The offered plaques were produced together with a group created as replacements during the restoration of the study of Peter the Great’s Monplaisir summer residence at Peterhof, by the best Palekh artists of the 1950’s.
