A RUSSIAN ICON OF THE NATIVITY AND RELATED SCENES, PROBABLY 17TH CENTURY. In this complex and ornate rendering, the entire nativity narrative is illustrated including the Annunciation to the Shepherds, the Birth of Christ, the Adoration of the Magi, the Flight into Egypt and the Massacre of the Innocents to name a few. Such icons are often ascribed to the Strogonov or Yarosavl style or school. 12.75 inches x 10.6 inches (32.4 x 27 cm).
