A LARGE AND FINE RUSSIAN ICON OF THE NATIVITY AND RELATED SCENES, YAROSLAV, 19TH CENTURY. A finely painted icon. In this complex and ornate rendering, the entire Nativity narrative is illustrated including the Annunciation to the Shepherds, the Birth of Christ, the Adoration of the Magi, the Flight into Egypt and the Massacre of the Innocents to name a few. The upper border inscribed in Slavonic "The Birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ". 17.6 inches x 14.8 inches (44.7 x 37.8 cm).
