AN INTERESTING SLAVO-BRITISH ALLIED LEGION MILITARY CROSS MINIATURE MEDAL BAR GROUPING, CIRCA 1917-1945. Comprising 12 mounted miniature medals including the British Military Cross, as awarded to Captain the Marquis Vivien De Chateaubrun (1896-1975). Also the British Military Cross, British WWI Service and Victory medal, British WWII service and defense medals, the Imperial Russian Order of St. Vladimir with swords, the Order of St. Anne, the Order of St. Stanislas, the Poltava medal, the Borodino medal, the Romanoff medal and the Croix de Guerre. Together with photocopies related to De Chateaubrun’s service and awards including a copy of the award document for the Military Cross dated January 17, 1919, general headquarters, Northern Russian Expeditionary Force. Length 6 inches (15.2 cm).

Catalog Note:  De Chateaubrun was born into privilege near St. Petersburg at Gatchina in 1896. He went on to become an officer in the Imperial Russian Grenadier Guards and was decorated for valor on numerous occasions. At the conclusion of the First World War he was one of the earliest volunteers to join the Slavo-British Allied Legion (July 7, 1918) and took place in the original landing at Archangel on August 2, 1918. He immigrated to England where he became a citizen and continued serving in the British Army. He died in Chelsea in 1975.
