A DUKE OF WELLINGTON HAND WRITTEN LETTER DATED 1839. Inscribed “December 2, 1839, The Duke of Wellington presents his compliments to Rv. Blunt and has received his note and returns his thanks for the sermon which he has been so kind as to send him.” Framed and matted with a portrait of the Duke engraved by H.T. Ryall after the Claudet daguerreotype. Overall dimensions 17.25 x 21. 2 inches (44 x 54cm). Together with a pass issued by the Earl Marshall of England for the funeral of Wellington, contained in a period glazed frame. Overall 10 inches x 11.75 inches (26 x 30 cm).
