A 19TH CENTURY BLACK AMERICANA AND SLAVE RELATED GROUP. Comprising a three page hand written court indictment regarding legal proceedings against three "Freedman of Color", from the state of Texas dated 1866, with embossed district court seal; an 18th century engraved book plate illustration "Decks of a Slave Ship"; a copy of "The Liberator" newspaper for April 21, 1865; a cabinet card of a well dressed black woman, and four tin types of well dressed black men. Together with a pair of wrought iron shackles with cork screw key, probably of later make.
