A VERY FINELY CARVED CHINESE IVORY FIGURAL GROUP, 20TH CENTURY. In the form of a large seashell internally decorated with a carved village scene surmounted with crabs atop stylized waves with large extending lotus blossoms on thorny stems, terminating with an egret, king fisher, and dragonfly. The base inscribed in pencil "China Exhibit 1984 World's Fair, New Orleans, LA", and raised on a conforming pierced hardwood stand. The ivory height 7 inches (18 cm).
