A FINE AND IMPORTANT RUSSIAN ICON OF THE DORMITION OF THE MOTHER OF GOD, 19TH CENTURY. Bronze and enamel, finely cast in high relief and embellished with four shades of champlevé enamel, the upper border displaying the condensed Old Church Slavonic title for this subject. 11.3 inches x 9.6 inches (29 x 24.5 cm).
