niche flanked by two columns with God the Father and a dove (the Holy
Spirit) above and flanked by two chalice-bearing angels. Traces of gilding

RELIQUARY GROUPING: A LARGE AND IMPORTANT CARVED POLYCHROME AND GILT WOOD
RELIQUARY FIGURAL GROUPING of Saint Anthony of Padua, Italian, 18th century.
Carved in full round, the base with four carved paw feet supporting heavily
carved acanthus corners set with finely carved winged cherubs at each of the
four corners upon which rests the figure of St. Anthony cradling the infant
Christ child. The front of integral base carved with oval reliquary
exposition window and with thecla encased relic within. Finely carved with
good detail, flowing robes and good anatomy. Some scattered losses and
worming. Spectacular! Height 48" (4 feet) (122 cm) and about 24" square
