painted chest with painted hinged lid depicting collage of images relating
to American and International anarchist Labor, social unrest and Civil
liberties. Emblazoned with numerous notable names such as Socialist John
Reed, Angelo Herndon (African-American Communist organizer), Sacco &
Vanzetti and others. The collage depicts various speakers at podiums
including Stalin, Union organization, and an inverted trapeze artist
displaying Nazi flags and with popular slogans. A unique and scarce early
American Socialist/Communist/Civil Liberties artifact. Width 49.5", depth

AN AMERICAN FOLK ART CARVING OF ADAM AND EVE, 20th century. Resting on a
rectangular base with beveled edge Adam and Eve atop a mound of earth with
stump behind them. They stand in front of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and
Evil which has a serpent wrapped around the trunk and with 14 individually
carved palm-type branches. The entire piece of what appears to be pine with
a thick yellowed varnish coat. Underside of base inscribed "Adam & Eve in
the Garden of Paridise (sic) after she done pick (sic) the fruit. A.E. Smith
'49". Base length 7.5", width 6", height including tree 12.5". Estimate
