A RUSSIAN ICON: Selected Saints, 18th century. This icon, style and particularly pallet (reds and blues) represents a distinctive style of Russian iconography that became popular in St. Petersburg and Moscow in the 18th century, due in large part to the influence of Western (Baroque) religious art. This particular example illustrates a high level of competency and is executed with great attention to detail. At top the Holy Napkin flanked by the Kazan Mother of God and the Seeker of the Lost Mother of God. Below the Holy Patriarch Methodius with a gathering of saints and the Archangel Mikhail. 12.75 inches x 11 inches (32.5 cm x 28 cm). Estimate $1,200-$1,800
