AN IMPERIAL CASED SET OF MEDALS Austrian 1910. An exceptional set of seven finely sculpted cased gilt bronze presentation medals for the "1st International Hunting Exhibition Vienna 1910". Each medal depicting a unique hunting scene, many including Emperor Franz Josef, and each artist signed. Contained in the original IMperial red Morocco silk and velvet-lined presentation case. The case cover set with the Imperial monogram in gilt bronze above a realistically sculpted stag-head trophy of carved ivory and gilt bronze, and further embellished with cabochons and paste stones and with impressed gold lettering "ERSTE INTERNATIO NALE JAGD AUSSTELLUNG WIEN 1910". The sculptors representated are: Wilhelm Heida (b.1868-), Alfred Hoffman (1879-1958), Josef Mullner (1879-1968) and Hans Schaefer (b.18750-). Together with a booklet which makes reference to the medals. The case 10.5 inches x 11.25 inches (27 cm x 28.5 cm). Estimate $3,000-$4,000 Provenance: Emperor Franz Josef of Austria-Hungary (1830-1916). Archduchess Valerie (1868-1924) daughter. Then by descent to her grandson, sold Hapsburg Feldman, Geneva May 18, 1990.
