DENISE HARREWYN (French 1915-2006), La Boite a Couture, Oil on canvas, Signed upper left, 23.5 inches x 28.75 inches (59.8 x 73 cm), Estimate $800-$1,200, Exhibited:  Societe des Beaux-Arts, June 1960, according to label on verso, Denise Harrewyn, Self-portrait circa 1946, French artist Denise Harrewyn (1915-2006) lived and worked in the northern industrial Parisian suburb of Clichy. While she is known mostly for her well-crafted still lifes, she also worked as an illustrator for children’s books and calendar art. She began exhibiting before the war and continued working and exhibiting into the 1990’s. Her works were shown at various Paris venues including the Salon de Printemps, Salon De Levallois and the Societe Artistique de Clichy.
