FOUR JAPANESE GLAZED TEA BOWLS, VARIOUS PERIODS including a brown glazed, bowl with circular reserves, probably early 20th century, and with rim chip. Height 3 inches, 7.5 cm. Also an Oribe design in brown and green, Seto kiln, probably late 19th century, with undetermined potter’s mark. Height 2.75 inches, 17 cm. Together with an example depicting a monkey on one side in dark brown slip, double gourd potter’s mark. Probably Meiji Period. Height 3 inches, 7.5 cm. TWO JAPANESE VESSELS including a Bizen pottery double gourd form sake bottle with finely tooled bands, rim or neck possibly shortened. Height 6.75 inches, 17.2 cm. Together with a tall cup slightly squared and with expanded base the upper portion painted with temoku glaze on a gray background, a pair of round appliqués on two sides near the indented rim. Depicting a figure of a karako, young Chinese boy, holding a scroll and seated with his cat by his knee, the cat wears the customary bow around its neck. Extremely fine detail including the fur of the animal and the tongue and teeth of the child. Height 2.75 inches (7 cm). Estimate $300-500 |
