THREE LARGE RUSSIAN ICONS, CIRCA 1850. Comprising an icon of Saint Nicholas who delivers a blessing and holds an open book of gospels to the Sermon on the Mound and with later restorations, 18.25 inches x 15 inches (46 x 38 cm); an icon of John the Baptist holding a chalice with the infant Christ and a scroll which begins with text adapted from John 1:29, “I saw and witnessed concerning him…”, the borders painted with 13 roundels depicting various saints, 18.5 inches x 15.25 inches (47 x 38.5 cm). Together with an icon of Christ as the Lord Almighty delivering a blessing with his right hand and holding an open book of gospels to Matthew 11:28, size 21 inches x 17.75 inches (53.5 x 45.5 cm).
