German WWII mid-war SS Infantry officer’s overcoat. Officer’s shoulder boards with single pip and gold-washed gothic script “D” devices denoting the wearer was an Obersturmfuhrer in the SS VT Regiment Nr. 01, Deutschland, which later became part of the 2nd SS Panzer Div, “Das Reich.” After completing the formation of essential units, the Standarte was bestowed the honor of title of “Deutschland at the Nuremberg rally in September of 1935. From November 1935 on, the Standarte also wore the cuff title in aluminum thread. The Standarte eventually became part of the Waffen SS continuing in existence until the war’s end. An officer’s aluminum thread sleeve eagle with black underlay is hand stitched on left sleeve and an officer’s “Deutschland” cuff title in aluminum thread is machine stitched on the lower left sleeve. Field gray collar without dark green over material has internal closure strap with black Bakelite buttons, six button front closure with zinc-coated pebble buttons with 65% gray/green paint, interior maker and size stamps inside left chest, Willich Uniform Fabrik. There is also a rectangular stamp “41. . .’illegible’. . .BA (Beschaffungs/Bekleidungs Ampt” and “S.” Interior partially lined in grey ribbed cotton twill. Slanted waist pockets with provision for dagger hanger, and French cuffs. Minor mothing to lower left skirt. Overall in VG+.
