A GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE SILVER-PLATED HONOR GOBLET. Awarded to Lieutenant H. Joachim Dirksen in March of 1943. Dirksen was an ace with five kills from Jagdgeschwader 132, later renamed Jagdgeshwader 26 on 08 December 1938 by Luftwaffen-Verordnungsblatt Nr 3C, Order Nr. 48, commemorating Albert Leo Schlageter, a decorated WWI officer, early Nazi party member and veteran of the Freikorps von Medern and von Lowenfeld. Front has riveted plaque engraved “Jagdgeschwader Schlageter III Gruppe—Leutnant Joachim Dirksen—March 1943.” Right side has facsimile of Herman Goring signature with quote from 1935, “Das Deutsche Volk muB ein Volk von Fliegern werden” (Germany must become a nation of flyers). Left has inscription “Dem Sieger im Luftkampf” (To the victor in airwar). Underside of footed base hallmarked “WMF” within a beehive (Wurtt embergische Metallwarenfabrik) and lid with finial lift. Also includes a day fighter clasp stickpin. Height 10.6 inches (27 cm).
