A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE RUSSIAN SILVER-GILT, SHADED AND CLOISONNÉ ENAMELED KOVSH, IVAN SALTYKOV, MOSCOW, CIRCA 1890. Of traditional form, the entire body with scrolling foliage and florals in shaded enamel on a stippled gilt ground, the borders banded in blue turquoise beading and the large, flat hook handle with conforming decoration to the side panels. The interior brightly gilded and the handle with engraved dedicatory inscription for the 7th of March, Moscow. Hallmarked Moscow circa 1890, Cyrillic maker's mark I.S. for Ivan Saltykov, and with 84 silver standard. Length 11.3 inches (29 cm).
