A RUSSIAN ICON OF THE KAZAN MOTHER OF GOD, FEODOR RUCKERT, MOSCOW, 1899-1908. A finely painted image of the Kazan Mother of God with minute ornate gilt-highlights executed on metal and overlaid with an exceptional silver-gilt and shaded enamel riza. The halo with floral scrolls on a maroon ground, the background in mint green. The borders with shaded vari-colored enamel floral decorated ovals and at each corner a cross with multi-colored cloisonné enamel beading. Hallmarked on the lower edge, Moscow, circa 1899-1908 and Cyrillic maker's mark ФР for Feodor Rückert and 88 silver standard. The verso backed in maroon velvet and mounted with silver hanging device. 3.6 inches x 2.7 inches (9.2 x 6.8 cm).
