A FINE RUSSIAN ICON OF CHRIST THE LORD ALMIGHTY, MOSCOW, 1899-1908. Realistically rendered, Christ delivers a blessing and holds an open book of gospels enameled with the text of John 13:34. The entire image overlaid with a multi-piece silver-gilt repoussé and enameled riza, the head of Christ encircled with a gilded silver and cloisonné enameled halo. The upper right corner with the Greek abbreviated name of Jesus in champlevé enamel, and the gospel text also masterfully rendered in champlevé enamel. Hallmarked Moscow, 1899-1908, Cyrillic maker's mark of A. Smirnov and 84 silver standard. 10.5 inches x 8.75 inches (26.6 x 22.2 cm).
