A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE CARVED, POLYCHROME AND GILT RELIEF PLAQUE OF THE DEPOSITION, SOUTH GERMAN, 18TH CENTURY. Carved in high relief of good proportions. The top carved with heraldic shield beneath an Imperial crown resting upon ribbon-tied palms and the borders carved with laurels and set with additional heraldic devices. The lower margin with blank cartouche within a framed scrolled border. 20.5 inches x 23.5 inches (52 x 59.7 cm).
