A VERY FINE PERSONAL DEVOTION RUSSIAN ICON OF THE MOTHER OF GOD, CIRCA 1890.  Executed on an arched metal support depicting a full length image of the Mother of God holding the infant Christ in her arms. Overlaid with a silver-gilt riza with champlevé enameled borders on a stippled ground. The verso with recessed folding suspension loop at top and also covered in velvet. Hallmarked St. Petersburg, circa 1890, Latin maker's mark P.R. and 84 silver standard. Height 5.1 inches (13.1 cm).
