AN EXTREMELY RARE IMPERIAL RUSSIAN HAT OF AN OFFICER IN THE DRAGOON GRENADIER REGIMENT, REIGN OF PETER THE GREAT, CIRCA 1727-1730. The “Dutch” bombardier cone shaped body of blue wool, ornately embroidered in silver and bullion thread, depicting on the front the Imperial Eagle flanked by flaming grenades, on the verso, a larger flaming grenade and with bullion edging on seams and bullion tassle finial. Height 12.5 inches (32 cm).
