AN EXCEPTIONAL CARVED AND GILT ALABASTER MUSICAL ANGEL AND GILT BRONZE MOUNTED PEDESTAL, FRENCH 19TH CENTURY. Finely carved in full round with upward sweeping wings of good anatomy and proportions, deeply carved folds, feathering and detail throughout. Height 48 inches (122 cm). Resting on large and impressive gilt bronze mounted variegated marble pedestal. The square base resting on four gilt bronze feet and with acanthus skirt from which rises a tapering column and each corner set with gilt bronze female head forms beneath a flared gilt bronze acanthus collar with overhanging marble top with beveled edge. Height 41.25 inches (105 cm). Overall height 89.25 inches (7 feet, 5 inches) 227 cm. Spectacular!
