A NORTHWEST COAST CARVED AND POLYCHROME WOOD TOTEM POLE, EARLY 20TH CENTURY. Partially carved in the round with semi hollowed back with four zoomorphic and anamorphic figures each atop the other and painted with polychrome pigments. Later sectioned for transportation. Total height 142 inches. Provenance: Acquired in the early 20th century by Dr. T. Hugh Young, Nashville TN while on an archaeological study in the Sandusky Bay area. Later donated to the Indian Ridge Museum in Elyria, Ohio where is was displayed until the museums liquidation at auction on April 18th, 1998.
