A RARE HOWDY DOODY "GRANDPA DOODY" MARIONETTE, RUFUS & MARION ROSE, CIRCA 1953. The original show filmed marionette "Grandpa Doody", sculpted of carved wood and composition with applied white mohair beard and wearing the original Civil War Union general's overcoat and pants, fully articulated limbs, hands and feet, with movable jaw and painted movable eyes, depicted with a cane in right hand, sculpted by Rufus and Marion Rose who replaced Velma Dawson as the Howdy Doody Puppet maker in 1952. Grandpa Doody was the only other character voiced by Bob Smith other than Howdy Doody. Height 28 inches. Provnenace: Lelands, Dec. 31st 2002 Auction lot 585.
