A FINE RUSSIAN PRESENTATION ICON OF THE LORD ALMIGHTY, MOSCOW 1909. Here Christ is depicted delivering a blessing and holding an open book of Gospels to John 13:34 'A new commandment I give unto you that you also love one another…' The upper left and right corner display enamel plaques with the standard Greek abbreviation for Jesus Christ. At Christ’s shoulders champleve enamel title plaques inscribed in Slavonic identifying Him as, Gospod Vsederzhitel 'The Lord Almighty' or rendered in Greek as Panocrator. The title is derived for the book of Revelation 1:8. The halo of Christ is the distinct cross-form bearing the Greek letters HO ON, meaning who is, also found in Rev. 1:8. The image overlaid with a multiple piece gilded silver riza with champleve enamel Gospel text and title plaques as well as an ornate cloisonnE enamel halo. Riza hallmarked Moscow, 1899-1908, Cyrillic makers mark S.G., and 84 standard. The verso covered in velvet and with dedicatory plaque engraved in Russian and celebrating a 25 year jubilee it reads, 'To Stephan Osipovitch Pirogou from his friends and coworkers- XXV 1884-1909 September 22nd' 8.75 inches x 7.2 inches (22.5cm x 18cm).
